ROOT OF THE WEEK CONTEST
Many of the words we use come from a root word. A little digging will uncover what the root word means, and can help us understand the meaning of a new or unfamiliar word.
For example, the root "sub" means under/lower as in the word "submarine."
A new question will be posted each Monday.
Entries must be submitted by 1pm on Fridays, and one winner will be announced on the afternoon announcements.
Keep an eye on ROOT of the WEEK vocabulary words being posted in the cafeteria, too. At the end of the school year, all of the ROOT of the WEEK words will be used in a crossword puzzle.
Complete the crossword puzzle in June for a chance to win the GRAND PRIZE!
Hint: The VOCABULARY icon on your my.ccpsnet.net dashboard might be helpful!
Only 1 entry per person per week.
CANDY CORN GUESS
Stop by the library & check out the jar of candy corn. Use the library’s website to guess how many pieces are in the jar.
The person with the closest guess will be invited to a pizza party with a friend in November. Deadline to enter is 10/29 & the winner will be announced on 10/30.
