Summer Reading Instructions

Summer Reading Program 2016

 Our theme this year is

  Bento Books!

A bento is a box into which several items of food are artistically arranged.

Everything you need for a balanced meal is held within the bento.

You may have seen lunch items arranged artistically in a bento box or food from a Japanese restaurant.

We are using that idea as a guide for Summer Reading!!

At Cosby, we want you to read everything you need for becoming a well-balanced person.

You may read eBooks or listen to audiobooks, but watching the movie version of a book DOES NOT COUNT!

Follow the steps below to participate in Cosby High School’s Summer Reading Program.

You MUST write at least 1 review of a book read during the summer.

(You may write a review of all the books you read)

1.)          Enroll in www.Goodreads.com which is a free online source for keeping track of all the book you read.

2.)          Follow these detailed instructions to start your account.

3.)          Start reading, recording and reviewing !!

See the BIG prizes below!!!

    Prizes

    Make your own Bento Box!

Design your own Bento based on a Book!

Using materials that might be found in a Bento, construct a 3-D Bento Box which details the characters, plot, setting, theme and point of view of your book. Use your imagination and creativity -- consider the fact that a traditional Bento contains foods from different food groups and that the sum of their parts make a whole.

You do not need to purchase materials, you can use items you have around your house.

Think of this as a book report, but much more fun.

Each student who creates a Bento Book Report will be entered into a drawing for a GRAND PRIZE!!
